Jared Cannonier vs. Nassourdine Imavov headlines June Fight Night card

Streaking middleweight contenders Jared Cannonier and Nassourdine Imavov will meet in a main event June 8 in Louisville, Kentucky.

The UFC announced the 185-pound matchup on Wednesday.

Both fighters have become accustomed to competing in these Fight Night five-rounders, with Imavov coming off a main event win over Roman Dolidze in February and Cannonier riding high off two consecutive headlining victories.

Cannonier followed up a 2022 split decision win over Sean Strickland with a record-setting performance in his unanimous-decision win over Marvin Vettori last June. Cannonier landed 241 significant strikes, the most ever in a middleweight fight.

Imavov’s lone setback since 2021 was a decision loss to Strickland in a 205-pound matchup. The 29-year-old is currently the No. 8-ranked contender in the middleweight division.

Cannonier, 40, is ranked No. 4 and has a 7-2 record at 185 pounds since 2018, with his only losses being a three-round unanimous decision to former champion Robert Whittaker in 2020 and a five-round unanimous decision in a title fight with former champ Israel Adesanya.

The June 8 event takes place at the KFC Yum Yum Center. Canadian Brad Katona is one of the other fighters expected to participate on the card.
